ASSERTIVENESS is the Healthy Habit for the next two weeks. Being assertive is a communication style in which a person stands up for their own needs and wants, while also taking into consideration the needs and wants of others.

 

An assertive person:

  • Clearly states their needs and wants in a respectful manner
  • Uses eye contact
  • Listens to others
  • Express their thoughts and feelings calmly
  • Shows confident body language
  • Says no when they need to and offers to help find an alternative solution
