PAMELA IRVING OPEN DAY

The artist who inspired our YOLO People from grades 3 and 4 last term, Pamela Irving, is having an open day at her studio in Bentleigh on this Saturday May 1st, 10am to 3pm. Moreover, 3 of our students have been selected to have their work exhibited at this exhibition. They are Ashton S of 3GM, Nicolette Z of 4JT and Isla D of 3RO. It will definitely be worth the drive across town to meet Pamela, view her studio and her works, perhaps even to buy one!!!

Her studio/gallery address is 68 Patterson Road, Bentleigh. Whilst you're there, check out the community mosaic walls at Patterson Station overpass just down the street that Pamela facilitated in 2012.

Pamela was recently featured in an article in an international mosaic artists' magazine. Here is the link to the article.

A heads up for families with children in  grades 1 and 2, that we will be doing a Pamela inspired, "Birds of the Burbs" artwork later this term, so you too should come to the open day!

ZART STUDENT ART PRIZE

Our primary art supplier is again running a competition for students. The theme for 2021 is OUR CELEBRATION OF AUSTRALIA. Entries can be submitted between June 14th and July 19th. Whilst this is not a competition for which we will specifically be creating art, some of the art we have done this year, or late last year may well fit the criteria. If you are interested you can pick up a flyer from outside the art office, or get more information directly from the source at www.zartart.com.au

I encourage you to enter if interested!

DONATIONS PLEASE

I am still looking for donations of old Melways for a grade 1 and 2 artwork to be called Birds of the Burbs, later this term. Perhaps you still have one knocking about in the back of your car that you no longer use?

I will happily take it off your hands! Or any other old maps would be good too.

I'm good for the time being with newspapers. Thank you to everyone who supported this.

Cheers to all!

Mrs Hortin.
