Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Project Compassion

Project Compassion

Two weeks ago, I thanked the St. Mary’s Primary School community for their wonderful fundraising efforts and donating $540.00 to our annual Lenten appeal, which will be forwarded to Caritas Australia to help others in our world help themselves.

Today, I am extremely humbled to say that we have raised a total of $2,026.45 to hand over to Kerry Stone, our Sandhurst Diocese Caritas Australia co-ordinator!!

Special thanks must go to everyone for returning their overflowing Project Compassion boxes and for supporting many of the school activities organised by the Grade Six Social Justice Leadership Team this term. Thank you so very much!

All Project Compassion boxes can be returned to the Admin Office by the end of this term.

Grade Six Social Justice Team

The members of the Grade Six Social Justice Leadership Team are to be congratulated on a busy term of fundraising and awareness-raising activities and are to be commended for their increased understanding of the meaning of ‘social justice’ (fairness for all) throughout this term.

As a co-operative team, the Grade Six Social Justice team members have:

  • met each Thursday afternoon to plan fundraising activities to raise money for Project Compassion. All activities were decided upon by this group.
  • organised promotional material (posters, social media announcements), created lists of required resources, made timetables and communicated with other staff members (including emailing our principal!!) to ask for permission or inform them of events.
  • counted the Project Compassion money in each of the classroom boxes and added totals to our graph.
  • watched and discussed a number of social justice clips to increase their own understanding of social justice issues in the world and our own community.
  • written scripts to introduce the Project Compassion clips at our school assemblies each week.
  • worked together as a productive team, communicating positively with each other and encouraging each other.

Congratulations to all of the Grade Six Social Justice Leadership Team members: Liv Andrews, Izzy Birch, Jazzy Martin, Cooper Sleeth, Sahib Athwal, Jazmine Bhatti, Ruby Emanuelli, Seth Foyster, Jesse Peters and Arlen Smith.

Holy Week Liturgy.

Our school will participate in our Holy Week liturgy on Thursday, 1st April at 9.30am. This important whole school event will be live streamed for parents and families to view.

We are very excited to use Andrew Chinn’s “Holy Week liturgy” and music this year! The staff and students have worked extremely hard to create a meaningful, prayer-filled reflection on the events of Jesus’ final week.

Thanks to all teachers and students for preparing for this wonderful time of prayer.
