Performing Arts

Welcome back to school! I am excited to be back in the Performing Arts room with a wonderful program ahead of us.

At RHPS, students do Performing Arts for half of the year. Prep, Grade One and Grade Two will be starting off with Performing Arts in Term One and Term Two. Students in Grade Three, Four, Five and Six will have Performing Arts in Term Three and Four. The Performing Arts room is located next to the Canteen and the Art Room, at the end of the main building.

In Term One, we will be doing a music unit. Prep students will learn about loud/soft, fast/slow and high/low through singing, dancing, listening and playing instruments. Students in Grade One and Two will continue to learn about fundamental music theory through playing a range of tuned and percussion instruments. They will also begin to compose their own pieces.

We have had a terrific first week in Performing Arts. We discussed class expectations across all levels. The Preps sang action songs and danced with scarves. Grade Ones and Twos practised keeping time in a music game and learnt to play a simple tune on a range of tuned instruments.

I will be running choir at lunchtime for senior school students this term and information about this will be shared next week.

See you soon!
