Creativity takes courage. Henri Matisse

Hello 2023 RHPS Artists,

I am very excited to have the whole school back in the art room this year!

It was a wonderful first week with all of the grades learning about the Dreamtime story of Bunjil, the Wedge-tailed Eagle and each student painting a feather to add to our whole school Bunjil art piece.

The Prep artists even painted a feather and a personal piece in their first art lesson, they were AMAZING!

This was our introductory art task as each year level ventures into learning about and taking inspiration from Australian Indigenous art, animals and the Dreamtime. Our Grade 1-6 artists will be looking at and taking inspiration from Indigenous artist, Melanie Hava.

While our Prep artists will create a range of artworks to introduce them to the art room and move onto a koala art piece inspired by the Dreamtime.

It’s sure to be a fun, messy and busy term in the art room and if you could please send along a NAMED art smock to school that would be greatly appreciated. If can be an old shirt or t-shirt and if you are not able to send one to school, send me a compass message and I can give your child a spare smock to keep.

Art club will also continue this year with the art room being open during the last playtime on a Thursday for anyone who wishes to create more art, work on an art skill or just come for the company. All students are welcome!

I can't wait to see the amazing artwork our artists will create this year.

Keep Creating,

Mrs. Granger
