Welcome Back!

A warm welcome to all our new and returning students, staff, and our school community as we officially begun the school year. We look forward to celebrating the achievements to come in 2023.

First assembly of the year

Wednesday at WHS has seen our school celebrate our first whole school assembly in 10 years. This was a wonderful celebration of our students and school highlighting school pride, the event was MC’d by Gracie York (Head Prefect) and Brodie Fisher (Prefect). The assembly opened with a rousing welcome to our new Year 7 students by the whole school a moment these young people will never forget. This was followed by the Australian anthem sung by Gracie York a fantastic rendition that was sealed with a huge round of applause. MCs Gracie & Brody introduced key speakers, Mr Dave Armstrong (Executive Principal) who welcomed students to the new school year with some valuable words of wisdom, students heard from assistant principals Mr John Paola and Ms Sheri Parkhouse along with Year Level Leaders – with messages to inspire, engage and motivate. Finally, our Sports Coordinator, Ms Sandy Newman announced sporting events for the coming Term to a round of applause and cheer. Our assembly topped of a brilliant start to the year.

Senior Levels - Year 11 and Year 12

Welcome to everyone and we’re looking forward to an exciting year ahead as students take one step closer to the wide world that’s out there.

Great to see students making full use of their new diaries as this will be an important tool for them.

This week we had a past WHS student come to speak of his experience at school and how he has spent the last 20 odd years living and teaching in Peru and inspiring the senior students to become leaders, so we look forward to our Year 11 & 12 students taking up the challenge he set for them.

For Year 12’s, the time will whiz past quickly as they juggle the many activities, rites of passage and academia into three terms, before focusing on final assessments and graduation. Meanwhile the Year 11’s are finding their feet with the rigours of senior school expectations. There will be a parent information night on February 22nd to explain many of the requirements of VCE & VCE-VM.
