Community update
It’s been a big year for community programming at Debney Meadows Primary School! We strive to deliver a holistic whole family approach to support our school community.
What this looks like is the continued delivery of our out-of-school-hours programming for children including Homework Club, Reading Club and Soccer Club. For this we thank Edmund Rice Community & Refugee Services and Melbourne Victory Football Club for their ongoing support. We’re excited to have had Circus Nexus join our Friday afternoon program.
Our parent programming has continued on strongly with a range of programs including Sew & Grow, computer class and most recently the Language for Lunch program, delivered by Farnham Street Neighbourhood Learning Centre and Edmund Rice. Mothers have been coming in each Friday morning to share cultural recipes and build language skills.
A huge focus for this year has been the new offering of early learning programs at school including playgroup, our first steps program and most recently the Little Seeds playgroup delivered by Cultivating Communities. Supporting our little ones and creation continuation of learning is a passion!
We were delighted to formally welcome Marwa Zakzouk into the role of School Community Liaison Officer. Marwa has previously been working with Edmund Rice & Kensington Neighbourhood House supporting the school and we’re excited to have her join the school staff.
As 2022 closes, we have an even bigger year ahead. We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Kensington Neighbourhood House to establish a Community Hub at the school. The Hub comes through a partnership consortium including Moonee Valley City Council, Paving the Way Forward, Edmund Rice, The Venny and Farnham Street Neighbourhood Learning Centre.
We can’t thank our amazing families, community and partners enough for continuing to come together to support our students and school.
