Humans of Kilvington
This week's guest on 'Humans of Kilvington' is French teacher, Kimberly Mullins.
1. When you were younger what did you want to be when you grew up?
Either a singer or a teacher – guess that’s why I got a Karaoke machine for my birthday last year!
2. What football team do you support (if any)?
Melbourne Victory (hahaha).
3. You can travel to any destination in the world, where would you go?
I would love to go to South America and try out my rusty Spanish.
4. Funniest/most memorable moment at Kilvington.
The most memorable/terrible moment is when I spilled my full cup of coffee in Principal Jon Charlton’s BRAND NEW conference office upstairs.
5. Share something about yourself that no one would ever guess.
I am a fully certified Astrologer – I could do your horoscope.
6. If you could swap your job with anyone else at Kilvington, who would you swap with?
I would swap my job with Bernard – I love doing landscaping and getting muddy.
7. Your favourite thing about working at Kilvington?
My favourite thing about working at Kilvington is my autonomy – and being able to implement whatever crazy or fun (?) idea I have for the Junior School or Staff!
Thanks Kimberly!

Colgate Oral Care Recycling Collection
Francis McGinley, Year 4 Classroom Teacher
In Term 2, as part of our Sustainability Program, we will be taking part in the ‘Colgate Oral Care Recycling Collection’.
We are hoping to stop oral care products landing in landfill when they can be responsibly recycled.
WHAT CAN YOU DROP OFF FOR ORAL CARE RECYCLING?
To help out, please drop off at School:
- Toothpaste tubes and caps (any brand, used or empty items)
- Manual toothbrushes
- Electric toothbrush heads
- Toothbrush and toothpaste tube plastic packaging
- Floss containers
- Interdental brushes
WHERE IS THE DROP OFF?
The collection bin will be outside M3 (opposite the IT office) from Monday 22 May to 23 June.
WHAT HAPPENS ONCE COLLECTED?
Once collected, the oral care products are cleaned and separated by material type. The fibres and plastics are recycled into raw formats that manufacturers use to make new products.
School TV Special Report: Social Media Influencers
Social media influencers have become powerful individuals who often shape the opinions and beliefs of others due to strong connections with their audiences.
The impact of social media influencers on youth mental health is a growing concern, most recently, the controversial actions and statements of Andrew Tate. His rise to fame has made him a polarising figure, amassing a significant following of mostly young males.
While not all influencers have a negative impact, parents play a vital role in ensuring a balanced approach to social media. By actively modelling kindness, respect and positive values, parents can help tackle the sway of radical influencers and be part of the solution to countering unhealthy masculinity.
This Special Report provides guidance on how to respond to misinformation and disinformation, instead encouraging critical thinking and emphasising the value of real-life connections.
We hope you take a moment to reflect on the information offered, and as always, we welcome your feedback. If this raises any concerns for you, a loved one or the wellbeing of your child, please consider seeking medical or professional help. Click here to view the Special Report.
