From the Deputy Principal

Endings and beginnings

The school year is drawing to a close and whilst many people are asking me if we are 'winding down', I feel we are, in fact, winding up.  This time of the year in schools sees us celebrating successes, finding the finish line on some projects and, at the same time, planning for the coming year. It's exciting to consider the new possibilities which await us.

As we move into our new Primary and Secondary School structure, the names of buildings on campus will change. The current Senior School building will become the Watami Building, which is the Noongar name for Green Island in Oyster Harbour. The current

Middle School ‘speckled brick’ building will become the Miaritch Building, which is the Noongar name for Oyster Harbour. The current Middle School red brick building, Languages rooms, and office space will become the Tamungup Centre, the Noongar name for the Kalgan rivermouth. These names reflect the special place our school inhabits on Menang land, and we are grateful for the support of our Menang elders for their advice and support in making these changes.

As we begin the final few days of school, I have encouraged students to ensure their classrooms and lockers are clean and tidy, and, for students in Year Nine, to ensure their laptops are returned in good order to the I.T Department.  Please encourage your child to bring any excess equipment home over the coming days, to avoid amassing many items to bring home on the last day of school.
