Diwali Celebrations

 Priyanka

What a fun-filled afternoon was the PMPS Diwali event on Saturday 5th Nov!

Performances, market stalls, cooking and craft activities, delicious vegetarian cuisine by the Hare Krishna Temple and 10 min free bike servicing by Back to Bikes!

Historically, Diwali marks the return of King Ramachandra, a greatly revered personality who appeared in ancient India, after his exile in the forests for 14 years. This story of Diwali was beautifully presented by the hosts Ananya and Isla and enacted in dance form by PMPS kids of various grades. Many lamps are lit on this day and Siahna reminded us of the divine light in our heart with her song "Let it shine". Willow and George had the audience on their feet with traditional North Indian dance- Bhangra. Our grade 2s - Isabelle, Jack and Alex implored the crowd to consider the current state of mother earth and show kindness to her. We delved deeper into mind, body and consciousness with yoga and mantra meditation.

A big thank you to Priyanka for all her time and effort in pulling together such a successful event.

All in all a great afternoon!
