PSGs an important support for our students

Over the past few weeks of term, staff and families have been involved in the Program Support Group (PSG) process at our college. These meetings are important to our students as it is an opportunity to discuss student successes and what further supports they may require to be and achieve their best in the classroom. A big thank you to all the staff and families for the time they have committed to this process.

During these meetings minutes are taken of the main discussion points and goals set and are shared with families. Some of these have begun being sent out and will continue to be over the next week. They will appear in parent and staff inboxes requesting electronic signature. To support the timeliness of this process, please review and sign at your earliest convenience to ensure the process is completed before the end of term/year.

International Day of People with Disability

December 3 each year is the day people around the world take part in International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). It is a day to celebrate the contributions and achievements of people with disability and promote awareness, understanding and acceptance in our community. A key part of IDPwD are the events that schools, workplaces and community groups hold to mark the day. Every event helps to make positive changes to the lives of 4.4 million Australians with disability and create a more inclusive community for everyone.

On Monday, December 5, the St Anne's College community will engage in some activities within the school that promote awareness, understanding and acceptance. Other ways you can get involved are:

This event is delivered in partnership with Disability Sports Australia and Greater Shepparton City Council’s Activities in the Park team.

Art for All Day to be held in Shepparton

Art for All Day will be held at Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) on Friday, December 9 and will include immersive experience sessions that are tailored for people with sensory and physical disabilities.

As part of the Art for All event, SAM will host three facilitator-led sessions:

  • Multimedia collaging from 10:00am to 11:00am
  • Fabric patch making from 12:00pm to 1:00pm
  • Paint pouring led by local artist Kody Bothwell from 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Spaces for the workshops are limited. Bookings can be made online here.

Activities in the Park will be offering e-bikes, rickshaws and wheelchair-accessible tricycles at this event. RiverConnect will be proving a hands-on environmental education experience. Bookings are essential for this day and can be made via the Greater Shepparton website.

A feature of this year's celebrations will be the launch of a new cow into the Moooving Art Herd, featuring art work by Verney Road School students and painted by Kody Bothwell. The new cow will be launched at Shepparton Sports Stadium and SAM. Community members attending these events will be invited to name the cow. All names will be considered and decided by the Greater Shepparton Disability Advisory Committee.
