Crazy Hair Day promotes a vital message

Crazy hair and lunchtime laughs were just a couple of ways students and staff celebrated FriYAY- Fun-ky Friday - at St Anne's College last week as Wellbeing Week wound up with the message, "There's nothing crazy about wellbeing." Creative coiffures, wow-factor wigs and eye-catching accessories were all part of the fun, while School of Possibilities Montessori House Pastoral Group Leader Troy Lowe was brave enough to have his head shaved and painted house-colour blue, along with his beard, at the hands of  Year 10 student Mahdi Al Mousawy - now that's team spirit!

School of Innovation and School of Possibilities students met with Frankie from headspace Shepparton to learn more about youth mental health and supports that young people can access locally.

Wellness Week provided daily opportunities for all students to take a moment to care for their physical, social and emotional wellbeing. Two of our Year 3 children, Avaya and Jemma, came up with the Crazy Hair Day idea and promoted the initiative by visiting learning spaces across the college to speak about Crazy Hair Day. Well done girls!

Supporting our community to be COVIDSafe

St Anne's College would like to remind the community that we are following our COVIDSafe plan which includes:

  • Increased ventilation
  • Use of air purifiers
  • Hand sanitiser around the college
  • Increased focus on hand washing and hygiene
  • Requirement for families to let us know if a student returns a positive COVID test (no reporting requirements by the college to the community exist any more)
  • Families will be asked to immediately collect unwell students from school
  • Strong recommendation that if students are feeling unwell, that they remain home until symptoms subside
  • The college will undertake a blanket distribution of RAT tests to our college community again to provide support around testing

Staying connected during the holiday break

The January school holidays can be a long time out of routine or a challenge managing children and work. School holiday programs and camps can be a great opportunity for young people to remain engaged with peers, continue building social skills, independence and confidence.
