Current Information

Breakfast Club

Unfortunately, Breakfast Club will not be available this week and we will let you know when it will be starting again.  Breakfast Club is normally on every day from 8:25am in the Home Ec. Room (Secondary Area).  This is available for all school aged children to pop in and grab something to eat and have a chat with staff on duty.  We are very grateful to Foodbank WA for providing some provisions for us along with our P&C who very generously donate the bread and many other items.  We always welcome donations of jam and butter at the Front Office for Breakfast Club.

Storydogs

We are very lucky to have Maree and her Storydog, Digby, come into the PP- Year 4 classes on a Friday morning.  When children read to a dog, the outcomes are amazing! It is a non-judgemental setting, the children's focus improves, their literacy skills increase and their confidence soars. The accepting, loving nature of dogs gives this program its magic and helps children relax, open up, try harder and have fun while reading to a friendly, calm dog. We will send home permission slips for the Kindy students this week.

Scitech Weather Wall

This Term, the Primary classes will be participating in the Scitech Weather wall.  This involves recording the rainfall for the week and submitting these details to Scitech on a weekly basis along with submitting a class photo which will appear on the GWN Weather each fortnight.  We will send home permission slips this week for your children's images to be shown on TV.

Student Assistance Scheme (Secondary Students)

The Secondary Assistance Scheme is available to parents/guardians with children enrolled in secondary schooling who hold an eligible concession card.  The Secondary Assistance Scheme comprises of an Education Program Allowance which is paid to the school and a Clothing Allowance that is paid to the parent.  (If the student is enrolled in a public school, the parent may nominate the clothing allowance be paid to the school).

For public schools, the Educational Program Allowance (EPA) of $235 for students in Years 7 to 10 will be paid to the school and will be applied towards the voluntary contribution.  Any balance will be applied against charges or as negotiated with the parent/guardian. For students in Years 11 to 12 the EPA will be applied to cover charges in the first instance.

We will send home forms with ALL Secondary students this week.  Please return them with a copy of your relevant concession card.
