Principal's Notes

Hello everyone

Welcome to this, the final edition of ‘Healesville High Connections’ for 2023.

Please enjoy this bumper edition, which in a sense sums up our school- vibrant, busy, engaged and caring. A close- knit community.

This past year has been one of realignment, growth and success for Healesville High School.

Our students have shown their enthusiasm, talent and willingness to be involved in all aspects of school life, parents have been consistently supportive, and the professionalism, care, generosity and sheer hard work of staff members has shone through constantly.

What a supportive and caring school community we have!

A special congratulations to the graduating class of 2022.

This group started primary school in 2010, following the devastation caused by bushfires in the previous year. They finished their school journey through a COVID pandemic, remote learning, lockdowns, severe storm events and flooding. That they have survived and thrived is testament to their individual and collective character.

Whilst enduring, surviving and thriving they demonstrated an abundance of care for each other – they have every right to feel proud of their achievements.

I know that school staff and the families of the graduating class couldn’t be prouder.

Congratulations to Sienna Muke, the highest achieving Year 12 VCE student, the Dux of the class. Sienna has epitomised the ‘surviving and thriving’ culture of this group, having not only endured the bushfires, pandemic, lockdowns, remote learning, floods and storms but also having endured a very serious physical health issue during her Year 12 year. Sienna, like her peers, ‘survived and thrived’.

Congratulations to the student ‘stars’ in this edition of Connections- Otis, Joseph, Sam and Charlotte. Each of you should be so proud of your nomination.

A special thank you to Ms Schoch who led and guided her team of staff and students and was ultimately responsible for the fabulously successful school community event held recently. What a wonderful evening and a fitting tribute to the life of Cheryle Carr, who many of you will know as one of our much-loved canteen mums. Thank you to everyone concerned in bringing this event together – yet another example of the community spirit which underpins Healesville High School and the broader Healesville community.

Thank you to all members of our school community for contributing to the individual and collective successes highlighted in this newsletter and to the successes of our school this year. In conclusion:

To the staff members of Healesville High School- thank you!  You care, you are compassionate and professional.

To the parents of our school students- thank you for your generosity, your support and your involvement.

To our students- thank you for embracing the opportunities on offer. Our school may be small, but the opportunities are broad. Be proud of your achievements and be proud of the achievements of your school.

Please enjoy this newsletter and best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
