A message from our Principal

Dear Parents,

We have had an enormous week with the changes occurring daily in Australia in response to the global pandemic. Our staff and children have shown kindness and care to each other which has been supportive and comforting. I continue to thank parents for their support of the staff, children and school whilst further procedures are put in place to ensure the ongoing health and well being of everyone at our school. The procedures we have in place to ensure a safe working environment are;

  • Requesting sick staff and children to remain at home. If children become sick during the day we will contact parents for them to be collected and taken home. Likewise, if staff become unwell throughout the day, they will go home immediately.
  • Hand sanitiser is in every classroom and soap is in all bathrooms.  Children and staff are washing hands or using sanitiser before eating, when coming in from the playground or when using the bathrooms. Soap is in the soap dispensers in all of the bathrooms. Children and staff are washing their hands for about 20 seconds regularly throughout the day.
  • Alcohol wipes have been given to each classroom, office and workroom so keyboards, phones, tables etc can be cleaned regularly throughout the day.
  • Tissues are in every room. Once tissues are used, they should be disposed of and children and staff should rewash/use sanitiser on hands.
  • The protocols for washing hands and coughing etiquette from NSW Health are clearly located in every classroom, bathroom and offices around the school.
  • Teacher tables, student tables, any benches and classroom furniture, workroom and staffroom tables and areas in offices are cleared each day so these area can be wiped  thoroughly with disinfectant. Everything is also lifted off the floor so a thorough vacuum can occur daily.

A list of cancelled/postponed school activities are outlined below;

  • All PSSA knockout competitions and sports trials are postponed. All district, regional and state carnivals have also been postponed.

On a much brighter note, we were thrilled to hear of the outstanding efforts of the children who attended the Western Swimming Trials in Dubbo last Friday. Nearly all children swam personal best times which is an outstanding feat. Well done to all the children who attended on their participation, representation and sportsmanship demonstrated. We are very proud of you all. Thankyou Miss Bennett for accompanying the children as one of the District Team Managers.

A special congratulations to Logan Johnson, Lachlan Simeonidis, Tom Hamer, Kai Barclay and Oliver Hamer who have all qualified for the NSW PSSA Swimming Championships. Oliver has qualified for the 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, Individual Medley and Senior boys relay. On top of this, Oliver also set a new Western Region record for the open boys 100m freestyle. Brilliant work. Tom has qualified for  the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and Individual Medley. Kai, Lachlan and Logan are all part of our super quick Senior Boys relay team that won the relay in Dubbo, qualifying them for the NSW Championships. Well done to all of these children.

Harmony Day will be held tomorrow, Friday 20th March.  Children from K-6 are invited to wear orange or their cultural dress.  During the week we have enjoyed listening to songs from other cultures over our bell system and have a Harmony Day display in the foyer area.  We thank parents for continuing to support these opportunities within the school.

Our Parent Portal is back up and operational.  A note was sent home this week informing you of the changes and our new web address.  If you enter that address it will take you to the main log in page. School Safety - Visitors to our school are requested to not use the children's toilets as this is a child protection issue. When on the school premises, if you need to use a bathroom, please present to the front office and you will be directed to the bathrooms.

A reminder that staff at school begin supervision duties at 8.30am each day. Children should not be dropped or arrive at school before this time as the playground is unsupervised.
