Introducing Mrs Kelly ~ Leading Teacher (Curriculum)

Hello everyone! Firstly, I would like to thank the staff, students and school community of Miners Rest for making me feel so welcome during my first week.

I began my teaching career over 20 years ago in a large primary school in Frankston after completing a double degree (Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching) at Ballarat University. My husband and I relocated back to Ballarat in 2007 with our two boys where I have spent the last 13 years teaching at Pleasant Street Primary. My curriculum roles over the last ten years have included classroom teacher, assessment and reporting coordinator, transition coordinator, leader of junior, middle and senior schools and school council member.

At Miners Rest, you will find me  in and around the classrooms; working with teachers and students alike. Together with Kylie Nissen, I will co-lead the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Team; supporting our teachers in all areas of curriculum delivery. I will be running several extension programs throughout the year, as well as being an advocate for student voice and agency working to empower our students to be engaged, focused and successful in our school and wider community.

Please say hello and introduce yourself if you see me on yard duty or around the school. I can’t wait to meet everyone!
