Korean Term One 2020

An-nyung-ha-se-yo! 안녕하세요!

Time flies indeed, a quarter of 2020 has gone by and falling leaves are greeting us already! I would like to thank all students for quickly adapting themselves to new Korean lesson time and working well.

It was lovely to see how our Foundation students were ready to learn with wonderful manners. We examined a world map and discovered how close Asia and Australia are and where Korea is.  Students also demonstrated saying hello (An-nyung-ha-se-yo) in a Korean manner beautifully.

2020 is the year of the rat according to Korean Zodiac! Year 1/2 students celebrated Lunar New Year by making a paper mouse. Also we explored Korean, native Americans, and Indigenous Australians' totem poles and coloured our own Korean totem ‘장승 Jang-seung'.

Senior students embarked on a brand new year with ambitious resolutions decorated with a paper rat. We also examined a bit of Korean history through major events happened in the past - Year 3/4 learned about 삼일절(sam il jeol) Independence Movement Day (1st March) and Year 5/6 studied about DMZ.

Well done everyone, and especially those who are sharing what they have learned with their family. It is always great to hear how they showed off Korean at home. Wish you a wholesome and safe term break, looking forward to seeing you all next term!
