Year 10 Languages Excursion

On Thursday the 16th May, the Year 10 Indonesian and Japanese students had a wonderful cultural day exploring Glenferrie Rd on their excursion. This involved students completing an amazing race in their target language exploring Asian groceries and stores as well as enjoying a traditional Japanese or Indonesian lunch. Students interacted with the local restaurant employees using their language to order their lunch and participate in basic conversations. Many students were brave and took the opportunity to try traditional meals and desserts.

Congratulations to Atty Chesser

“Recently I entered the Sayembara Lisan competition which is an Indonesian oral speaking competition for students from around Victoria. The first round was in May and I had to answer questions about myself in Indonesian then read a speech about my school. I then answered questions about the speech. I was lucky enough to get through to the final round in Melbourne University & received a High Commendation. It was a really great experience going into the city to do this and it was a lot of fun. I was invited to go the presentation evening which was really interesting. I strongly recommend entering this competition as it is an awesome experience and lots of fun.”
