Walk Around Australia Challenge

Dear St Anne’s Families,

You might have heard, watched or been informed that all students are participating in a Walk around Australia Challenge until the end of term. This is part of their PE lessons as well as the requirement that students need to be active at least 30 minutes a day.

How the challenge works:

For every minute of physical activity that they do each day equals to 1 km (1 minute = 1km). Each Wednesday I will put a post on Seesaw for the students to send in their weekly total in minutes. These are separate from their PE lesson. These amounts will be added together and calculated for each class and an update will be provided weekly via Seesaw. The total they are looking to reach is around 35,000km, but our winning class will be the one that walks the furthest.

Any physical activity counts towards their minutes. Going for a walk/run, completing home workout videos, Just Dance, riding their bike/scooter or jumping on the trampoline - anything that gets the body moving.

On September 2nd it will be National Health and Physical Education Day. On this day there will be activities for both students and families to participate in. For every person in your family that participates on this day their minutes will be added to their child's class total. For those who have multiple children at the school extra family members times will be added to each class.

We hope that this challenge will encourage the students to get up and move each day. The grand prize is a PE lesson where students will have free choice over what equipment and activities they participate in.

I am excited to see how far each class “walks” around Australia.

Regards,

Mrs Lacey
