K/1 Kookaburras

Hello from K/1 Kookaburras!

We have had a wonderful year so far and our learning in Term 2 is well and truly underway! We said goodbye to Miss Dunn, but not for long as she will be back with us again at the end of the year.   

In English, we have been working hard at becoming fluent readers. We are learning to apply our reading strategies of decoding and blending to help us read words. Mrs Barkley has been helping us understand what feedback is and how we can use it to improve our reading. In Writing, Kindy have been writing decodable sentences using known sounds and tricky words. In Year 1, we are learning how to write a persuasive text and we are trying to convince our crayons not to quit!

Margaret Preston is just one of the wonderful artists we have studied in Creative Arts. Margaret was an Australian artist who was well known for her bright, happy and colourful paintings which usually consisted of flowers and landscapes. K/1 recreated a combination of Margaret’s art and don’t they look outstanding!
