2022 National Reconciliation Week School Flag Walk
National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week
Students participated in a range of activities for National Sorry Day last Thursday.
National Sorry Day is the day that the landmark ‘Bringing them Home’ report was tabled in federal parliament in 1997. It’s a day to remember the past policies of forced child removal, and reflect on the sad and painful stories of the Stolen Generations. It is a time to recognise the resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the power of saying sorry.
May 27 until 3 June is National Reconciliation Week and is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The week commemorates two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.
Students will continue to participate in activities throughout this week as part of National Reconciliation Week.
