General Information (1 of 2)

COVID-19 INFORMATION

With students returning we want to ensure you have updated information regarding the most recent government COVID requirements and what that looks like at school.

Please take the time to read the information below, and as always please contact the school if you are unsure of the process in any situation.

If your child tests positive:

  • Parents must notify the school of their child’s positive COVID test via covid@bhcs.vic.edu.au
  • Students/Parents are requested to email teachers if they are well enough to complete school work during isolation.

If your child is a household contact of a positive case you no longer need to isolate, however you must:

  • Parents/carers must notify the school that their child/ren are household contacts by emailing covid@bhcs.vic.edu.au
  • Students must take 5 x RATs over the 7 days of the household contacts isolation.
  • Students must wear a mask when indoors (unless a valid exemption applies).
  • Parents/carers should monitor for symptoms and keep their child home if unwell or has the slightest of symptoms.
  • Ensure the student commences isolation immediately if they test positive.

Note: You can collect a free pack of five rapid antigen tests at testing centres.

If your child has previously tested positive for COVID:

  • They are exempt from undertaking RAT screening and further isolation requirements for 12 weeks after their positive diagnosis.

Parents/carers visiting the school for meetings:

  • Parents, carers, and other adult visitors are no longer required to show evidence of a COVID-19 vaccination if visiting for meetings or attending school events.

Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs):

  • The supply of RATs will continue for the first 4 weeks of this term.
  • DET recommends students continue to test via RAT twice weekly.

Face Masks:

  • Students in Years 3-6 as well as staff and visitors of primary school year levels are no longer required to wear face masks
  • Students must continue wearing masks on school buses, including public transport, and when on excursions, or in rideshare vehicles, as per government COVID requirements.
  • Staff and students who want to continue wearing face masks are able to do so, including those who are medically at risk.

CHILD SAFETY- PARENT/CARER SURVEY

The School has recently sent an email to all families from Prep to Year 12 containing a short survey on Child Safety.

As child safety is the responsibility of everyone in our school community, we would value the feedback from all families.  The survey, should take no more than 3 minutes, is anonymous and will close on 2 May, 2022.

VCE LEGAL CANBERRA TRIP

11-14 May

Students from our school will soon be undertaking an educational tour of the national capital.  Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $45.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs.  The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
