Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

I would like to thank each and every one of our famlies for all their support, cooperation and patience with all our requests, rules and expectaions this term as it has enabled us to have a wonderful ten weeks free of lockdowns and any major disruptions.  Whilst I personally was unable to attend, I hope our Family Multicultural Night last Thursday was a great example of the many other community gatherings we will be able to have throughout the rest of the year.  I believe one of the most important ingredients in any community is each persons sense of belonging and connection with others.  It is these types of activities that can really help to build those connections for all of us.

When I look back at the school calendar for this first term it is very obvious that we have crammed an incredible amount into a short time. I am sure every child will be well and truly ready for a two week break and the extra enjoyment of the Easter Season in the middle of our holidays. These holiday really are an opportunity for them, and parents, to have a little break from the routine of school and hopefully to have some great experiences they can share on their return next term.

Prayer for Communities

Loving Father, You grace each of us with equal measure in your love. Let us learn to love our neighbors more deeply, so that we can create peaceful and just communities. Inspire us to use our creative energies to build the structures we need to overcome the obstacles of intolerance and indifference. May Jesus provide us the example needed and send the Spirit to warm our hearts for the journey.

Amen

Easter Paraliturgy

Yesterday we enjoyed a special Easter Liturgy prepared by Ms Antonella and it was great to see many parents also joining us. Easter is the most important season of the year for Catholics who acknowledge Jesus death and celebrate his resurrection.

I wish all our families a very Happy Easter.

Below is the Holy Week Schedule for

St Ignatius Parish

THE SEASON OF LENT

When does Lent 2022 end?

For Western churches, Lent ends on Saturday, April 16, 2022 this year with an evening Easter Vigil mass on Holy Saturday. However, the last week of Lent is celebrated a bit differently with Holy Week, beginning with Palm Sunday on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Holy Week also includes Holy Wednesday (which acknowledges Judas’ plan to deceive Jesus), Maundy Thursday (which commemorates Jesus's last supper), and Good Friday (which is when Christians recall the crucification of their savior). The final day of Holy Week, of course, is Easter, when Christians acknowledge that Jesus rose from his tomb.

Lunchtime Clubs - Feature Pen Pals

This week I have included a full page to feature our Pen Pals Lunch Time Club.  One of my best memories of my Year 6 in Primary School was having a Pen Pal who we wrote to each week. We were even lucky enough to be able to meet in person. What a great experience for our children. Thanks Ms Marinelli.

Staffing Update

On behalf of all of us I would like to wish Mrs Anna Plackett all the very best as she begins her maternity leave at the end of this term. For those of you who may not have known, Mrs Plackett is expecting her second child in May and will be taking time off for the remainder of the year.

ROBOGALS STEAM Incursion

A big thank you to Ms Foley who organized a wonderful Science Incursion for our Year 3-6 Students.

Robogals is a student run organisation that aims to inspire and empower young people especially girls to consider studying engineering and related fields.

School Closure Day - Student Wellbeing

One of our Intended Outcomes from our 2022 Annual Action Plan is:

That staff will develop a clear and consistent whole school approach to student wellbeing and managing student behaviour

To achieve this all staff will participate in Professional Development in 'Positive Behaviours for Learning' and lead dialogue to promote student Wellbeing and Positive Behaviour. As part of this process we will also be renewing our Behaviour Management Policy and seeking parent input as we continue to improve our whole school approach to student wellbeing.

Learning Expo

What a great display of the learning which has taken place this term. Congratulations to each child and their teachers for the set up and explanations as we visited each classroom.

For those of you who were not able to be here I hope these pictures give you an idea of what it was like.

2023 Enrolments

Thank you to all those parents who completed this form last week. We are currently meeting with new families interested in enrolling their children into Prep for 2023. We would also like to get an idea of how many of our current families may also have children ready to start Prep next Year. If any of our current families have children who will be enrolling in Prep for 2023 could you please complete the form below by clicking on the button so we can add you to our communication list.

Friday Assembly

Last week we chose to hold our assembly outdoors due to the number of recent positive cases in our community. This was another example of us all working together to do what is needed throughut these challenging times. Whilst the weather is good this may be something we can do in the future as the children and parents whio attended all found the experience very enjoyable.
