A visit from Bunnings

This week the crew from Bunnings came to help us plant vegetables and fruit in the Secret Garden. Here are some reflections from our students.

The Bunnings incursion was exciting because it is really fun to be in the garden and lots of fun to dig and plant. We ended up planting two Passion fruit vines and I think an olive tree and a lime tree as well as a lot of other smaller plants like strawberries and tomatoes. Overall it was really fun to be back in the garden. Bunnings is also a very cool place and the people helping us were very helpful. They were also very cool and fun.

On Tuesday year 5 went into the secret garden. We grew onions, plants, oranges, and lemons. We got to take 2 limes home. The Bunnings people were very nice. We were separated into 4 groups. 1 of the groups was planting the onions. The second group was digging holes to plant a lime tree. The third group was planting some mini plants into the garden. The fourth group was cleaning the garden and putting the scraps away. It was a marvellous time. Year 5 had an amazing time planting. The garden is more healthy and there are more plants growing. At the end of the day we got to bring 2 limes maximum.

Christine, Year 5

On Tuesday, we went to the secret garden to grow fruit and vegetables. The type of fruit and vegetables we grew were onions, limes, strawberries and potatoes. It was so much fun! Bunnings came to help us grow the food. They were excellent! The whole class were in 4 groups. I was with a large group. We had to dig under the lemon tree to find the roots. After that we had to put the plants in the soil so they grow. It was very surprising because all of the plants were growing. Finally, we got to collect some of the vegetables we grew. There were lots of lemons and potatoes. I really enjoyed this incursion!
