School Captain News

Noah:

Bonjour, Konnichiwa, and hello to everyone today in this issue of captain’s news. My name is Noah if you forgot and in today’s issue, we will cover all the important events this week and more. This week the year 5 & 6's had two more exciting incursions starting with a visit from Bunnings Warehouse. During Tuesday we had a surprise visit from a couple of people from Bunnings helping us to remove all the plants from our secret garden (which isn’t really that secret) to then replant somewhere else, presumably in the cubbies just outside. We were given a quick brief of what needed to happen and then set to work. We dug up all different things, even potatoes! Overall, it was a really fun experience and I think most of us would be happy to do it again if we had the chance. The next day we had another excursion! This time it was about the importance of making and choosing the right friends for you. They taught us about how just because your friends do something that doesn’t mean you have to do it as well. For example, if one of your friends thinks it’s a good idea to make fun of someone else, don’t follow along, stand up and choose to help the person that they are making fun of instead of joining in. I think everyone in both year 5 and 6 had a good time listening to some of the cool things that Tim was teaching us, especially the magic tricks he performed. Overall, another really fun experience and something we should definitely do again. I’m Noah Mackintosh and thanks for reading this week's issue and I’ll see you all next week!

Gaby:

Buongiorno, buon pomeriggio, buona serata, buona giornata, or to put it more simply, hi!! Gaby back again, and it’s week 8 of Captain’s News! In this week’s issue we’ll cover all the incursions we’ve participated in (there’s a lot!) and anything else that I can remember. First of all, great work to all the students who’ve won a STAR, PE or Italiano award at assembly this week! Now, let’s get to the important stuff. I’m pretty sure Monday was just a normal Monday, but on Tuesday years 5 & 6 went out into the Secret Garden, which isn’t really what I’d call very secret, to help weed, plant and even harvest the garden beds with the help of some Bunnings Warehouse volunteers. We found heaps of mint and soooo many potatoes! They went home with families of the students after school that day. I’m pretty sure that the grade 3s and maybe another grade also went on an incursion about their topic, democracy I think. The next day was Wednesday and all the classes went on another incursion! Tim, the presenting person, was back again with a follow up on his last presentation, bullying no way. This one was called ‘Great Mates’ and it was very interesting. He did lots of magic tricks and taught us how we’re all different and how to make good friends. Overall both of Tim’s incursions were really fun, and I think pretty much everyone else would agree with me on that one. I don’t think much else happened this week, so I hope you enjoyed this week’s issue and until next time, Gaby Noonan out :D
