Harmony Week

Harmony Week

This week our school has celebrated Harmony Week. Harmony Week is designed to help celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity. In each class, students learnt how to be inclusive, respect others and encourage a sense of belonging for everyone.

In Grade 5/6 students learnt about different countries and cultures, looking in depth at people’s lifestyles around the world. During our Buddies session, Grades 5/6 and Prep created some beautiful posters celebrating our different coloured skin.

In some classes students brought in traditional clothing, foods or artifacts to talk about.

At lunch and recesses, all students were welcome to come and celebrate each other’s differences by colouring in or creating a chain of mini people.

Orange was a prominent colour this week, as orange represents social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.
