Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

It's only one week until our Cluster Athletics Carnival and we would really appreciate your support!  Volunteers are urgently required to assist with the running of events, so if you can help out, even for part of the day, please email Joel or contact the office.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the planned Dylan Alcott presentation for this week has been postponed to later in the year.  More information will be provided when a new date is confirmed.

A reminder that tomorrow, Friday 25th March, is 'Ride to School Day'.  We encourage all families to participate and to enjoy the opportunity to use active travel to and from school.

Next Tuesday 29th March, students in Years 3 & 4 will travel to Bright to participate in a roller-skating session.  Consent for this event must be provided via Compass or by requesting a paper form from the office.  Parent/carer  volunteers are also being sought to assist with this event.  If you can help, please contact the office.  Please note that all volunteers are required to: have a current Working with Children's Check, comply with our Child Safe and Volunteer Code of Conduct and be fully vaccinated to attend. This event, including transport, has been fully sponsored by the Alpine Shire as part of their Community Health and Well-being program.

In order to help make a difference to the environment, this year's SRC are taking up the challenge to 'Tread Lightly' by recycling old sports shoes.  Families are invited to bring their old shoes to school and we will arrange to drop them into a special shoe recycling bin.  To read more about this program, please see this link.

School photos will be held next Thursday morning, the 31st March.  Orders and family bookings can be made via Compass.   For more information, please refer to the School Photos page of this newsletter.

On Thursday the 7th of April, there will be a special

As an SRC initiative, on Friday the 8th of April we will be celebrating the end of term with a special dress up day.  The theme is 'Come as Someone who Inspires You!'  Students are asked to bring along a gold coin donation, with all funds going to the Tawonga Red Cross appeal to support people affected by the NSW/QLD flood and the Ukrainian crisis.

If you haven't already done so, Rapid Antigen Test kits may be collected from the office in the morning, from 8.45am and 9.15am or in the afternoon from 2.45 - 3.15pm.

Please check and update any new or past student absences via the Compass portal.  Currently we have a number of unexplained absences and ask that all families please assist by updating any unexplained absences as soon as possible.  NB. The attendance function has recently been updated on the Compass app.  Guidance is available on the Attendance page of this newsletter.

Families are reminded that, inline with health advice for primary schools, masks are still required to be worn when entering buildings.

Your assistance in protecting our students and staff from illness is greatly appreciated.
