CELEBRATING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE@CSPS

Congratulations to those students and families who took the time this week to attend the Student Led Conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.  These conferences provided students with the opportunity to celebrate their learning successes and set future goals for themselves. These were fabulous to see and participate in.

Feedback from students and families has been overwhelmingly positive.

SEMESTER ONE REPORTS

Semester One reports went live on Friday 17th June. Please see below for instructions on how to access these reports through Compass.

Mrs Sargood Comes to School

This week the Year 1 and Year 2 students had a visit from Mrs Sargood, the lady of Rippon Lea Estate. She educated the students about what life was like for children in 1870.

We learnt about old school; in the 1870s you used special ink pens. - Bentleigh, 2B

We learnt that she had a mansion which had a classroom, a pool and it also had a ballroom. It had wallpaper that was actually made out of gold. We used the special pens with the black ink to write our letters. I really liked how we learnt how to bow and courtesy nicely. It was really funny when the boys did the bowing! - Emma H, 2B

When children talked in class they would get whipped with the cane. We got to dip the pen in ink to make it work. - Zennin, 2B

They used the cane in the old days when kids were naughty. She had a mansion! - Jaxon R

FOUNDATION ZOO VISIT

he Foundation Team would like to share information about our adventures at the zoo and our Inquiry Unit for Term 3.

Next term the Foundation students will be investigating how animals adapt to their habitats for survival. To spark the students curiosity about animals last week we spent the day exploring Melbourne Zoo. Despite the weather we were able to use our senses to be Wild Explorers searching for animals in their habitats. As part of our day we also had a lesson in the zoo's outdoor and indoor classrooms - a highlight for many children was "Guess whose poo?", "Would the poo belong to an elephant or a kangaroo?"

Here are some photos from our day.
