Highlighting Arts Learning

Drama

Lights. Camera. Action.

In Drama classes' 'Making Tasks', students are always creating original concepts and performances by improvising, directing, and scriptwriting.  They use costume, props, and technology to enhance their productions in our stage space.

One enjoyable and intellectually challenging assessment task requires Senior Drama students to read a play and view a professional performance in a particular style, decide on the dramatic meaning, and identify key conventions of style.  They then create their own original storyboard of twelve frames that documents and justifies the new concept that communicates this meaning and conventions.  Year 12 students based their individual creations this year on an Absurd Play Ionesco’s Chairs and Year 11s an Australian play Black Diggers.  Students in the Year 10 Drama class have been prepared for these tasks at Senior level by engaging in similar making tasks.
