2021 Leadership Positions

Dunhelen students have had the opportunity to nominate themselves for a leadership position for 2021. We will soon be commencing interviews with the nominees. Please note that there is a selection process in place and not all students will be interviewed. The expressions of interest are many, and it would be almost impossible to interview all who nominated. We are seeking students who have displayed a positive attitude to the College, its rules and learning. Students should also have demonstrated a respect for all College values, have good communication skills, been involved in a variety of areas of College life and have displayed perseverance and resilience in all areas. I wish all the nominees good luck. It will not be an easy task to determine the Dunhelen student leadership team for 2021.

Time Management

We are drawing to the end of the year and workload is increasing. Please assist your child in finding the time to complete their work, manage their out of school activities but to also enjoy some leisure time. If students feel like they need more time, please encourage them to speak to their teachers.  Homework Club is also running again, so students can spend Wednesday’s lunchtime completing work if they wish to.

NAIDOC Week

This week the College celebrated NAIDOC week. During NAIDOC week all Australians are invited to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The theme this year was, 'Always Was, Always Will Be'; A reminder that the first people of this country have lived and cared for it for over 65,000 years .

Remembrance Day

This week we also remembered those who have fallen in war. The 11 November is Remembrance Day and the College commemorated with a small service and a minute’s silence. Lest We Forget.

Year 7, 2021

This week we also welcomed our Year 7, 2021 students. Very differently to past years. All get togethers were via Zoom. Students were able to see and meet students in their homeroom and their Year 7 Homeroom teacher. While different to our usual Year 7 Orientation Day, I am sure the future students were given lots to look forward to. We are very pleased to welcome them into Dunhelen.

Uniform

A reminder to parents that students should be in correct school uniform every day. Please check girls' dress lengths to ensure that they are on the knee. All students are only permitted one earring per ear lobe and a watch. All students should have their hair tied back, if it is past shoulder length. The parka is not a summer uniform item and will be taken off students if worn on days when it is not needed for an extra layer. Your cooperation in building a sense of pride in your child’s school and themselves is very much appreciated.
