Learning in S40

Senior School S40 Rahimi is sharing the learning taking place in their class…

S40’s Quest for Kindness!

Welcome back to Term 4!  It is hard to believe that we are already there, but I am so incredibly proud of the engagement and responsibility students have demonstrated upon commencing on-site learning.  Being able to interact with one another has been exciting and something I am feeling very grateful for.  Congratulations Year 5’s for having such a great start to the term.

When we returned to onsite learning, another

Year 5 class challenged the school to commit to recognizing 200 acts of kindness.  S40 decided to accept this challenge and we discussed the importance of spreading kindness.  Collectively, we decided that kindness is something that we are in control of and is an easy but priceless way to spread happiness.  For the next few weeks, we will be taking note of acts of kindness we notice or experience in the classroom, yard, at home or in the wider community.

I asked some of the students of S40 what kindness means to them.

“Kindness keeps the world together.”
Zachary
“Kindness is when people show each other respect.
When I see kindness I feel happy.”
Grace

“Kindness is being polite and being respectful by using our manners.
For example using thank you and please.
It makes me feel good when people are kind.”
Ruby
“Someone who is kind has good manners.  It makes me feel they are
a good person when I meet someone being kind.”
Rassam

“Kindness is when you are mindful of other people and
you treat people the same way you would like to be treated.
It makes me feel warm and happy when I see people being kind.”
Ajeya

S40 has also been enjoying completing the Resilience Project activities.  We have been focusing on recognizing our own strengths and attributes.  The class had wonderful moments where we have had the opportunity to share our own and our peer’s strengths. Students created their own logos that represented their many strengths.  This was a wonderful reminder to always reflect on our strengths and recognize what makes us great!

It has not been an easy year, but it has been lovely to see respectful, resilient and responsible students in various settings.  Once again, it has been an absolute delight to have everyone back onsite.  I cannot wait to see everyone continue to grow and achieve many more things this year.  Keep up the amazing work!
