What a tremendous year 2020 has been! In this publication, we take a moment to reflect on the year and our hopes for the future. We celebrate the ups and downs of the corona-coaster; online school, impending due-dates, cancelled camps and excursions or exams and rejoicing in our return to school. We also celebrate the joys that this year has brought us all.
'The more you praise and celebrate life, the more there is to celebrate.'
- Oprah Winfrey
For the Buckley House Year 6 kids, we asked them to reflect on their time in primary school and what they will miss. We also asked them about their aspirations for the future, instilling a sense of hope in what coming endeavours will bring. We gave them the time to reflect on all the amazing things that primary school had to offer.
For our Middle Years students, we asked them to reflect on this year and the ways they have adapted to the challenges that they have had to face under the difficult circumstances of 2020. Students shared their hopes for the new year and strengths they want to carry with them from these challenging times.
Finally, for our Senior Years students, we asked them to reflect on specific activities they have taken part in throughout the year, sharing some of the positive experiences that 2020 has brought and celebrating their commitment to their co-curricular activities, despite the circumstances. In addition, you will find an article welcoming everyone to the new academic year, encouraging students to cherish all the experiences that school has to offer before they graduate.
Continuing from the last edition, we have an article centred around the School’s history and this term we were lucky enough to be in contact with two Old Ivanhoe Grammarians who shared their perspectives on their time at Ivanhoe Grammar School and some inspiring words, providing hope for what our students can grow to become in the future.
As always, we have had the privilege to exhibit the School’s student’s artwork, mostly from the virtual Art Exhibitions, including Plenty Campus Exhibition videos and The Ridgeway Campus Graduate Art and Design Exhibition, with the links below this ‘welcome’. We have also included the website link for The Ridgeway Campus Year 7-11 Art and Design Exhibition and we have included some features in this edition as well as Buckley House artwork.
Don’t forget to take advantage of all the opportunities we are given at our school and the people you meet along the journey, including fellow students, teachers and mentors alike, because...
'Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.' - Dr Seuss
