Music Report

Despite the difficult circumstances the Instrumental Music program has had to operate in this year, with 2 lockdowns, number restrictions in ensemble rehearsals on site and recently a ban on woodwind, brass and voice during term 4, on our return, I am pleased to say we have survived and thrived!

As of yesterday, playing a woodwind or brass instrument and singing are all allowed outdoors, onsite, so all students need to bring their instrument to their lessons next week, which will be held outside, weather permitting. This announcement bought much joy to everyone in the Performing Arts Centre yesterday!

We still have to be creative with how we run our ensembles but as proven throughout this year, we will continue to overcome obstacles and work towards a COVID normal with our ensemble program. Please check your emails for your teacher’s and conductor’s instructions regarding lessons and rehearsals next week.

Sadly, this week we had to farewell our year 12 musicians. This cohort of students has greatly contributed to our program over the past six years and have shown such persistence and resilience throughout this year, being great role models for all, onsite and online. We will greatly miss them.

Thank you and a big round of virtual applause for our 2020 year 12’s:
