Principal

Today is World Teachers’ Day in Australia.

It’s a day to thank teachers for the amazing work they do to educate children and students. It’s also a day for teachers to celebrate. It is appropriate to do that as we come to the end of a week in which all students and classes have been reunited with their teachers. Teaching in 2020 has never been more challenging. Supporting our students in maintaining their wellbeing and ensuring continuity of learning has been so important.

I am proud of our teachers and the profession more broadly as they continue to make a difference. Please enjoy this short media clip from our year 12 students.

Return to School for all students and Farewell to Year 12.

It was a delight to have all of our year 8 to 10 students return to onsite learning at the beginning of this week and adopt COVID safe practices to ensure that we are able to move forward. Thank you to all families for your support and continued understanding. Hearing the sounds of animated and shared conversations, activity in the school yard and classrooms, reminds us all of the importance of social connections in the development of the whole person.

We will now move forward and where additional support is needed develop further plans to assist students with their learning growth. In 2021 there will be additional tutoring support and development of an additional High Achievers Program supported by the Department. These welcomed extra resources will enable all students to progress further.

The final year of secondary school is always a challenging but ultimately rewarding one, providing the opportunity for students to demonstrate their growth, in every sense, as they finish their time at school. 2020 has been about the Yr 12 Coronacoaster - the biggest of rollercoaster rides. What a year !

Remote learning, uncertainty over exams, the cancellation of those events that were going to cap off a final year - 2020 has been one of the most challenging presented to a graduating class in my memory and that’s a long, long time. Yet, here we are coming to their last week of school having survived the craziness of it all.

In the face of such unprecedented challenges, these young people have shown more than you might possibly realise. They have shown endeavour in approaching all that is asked of them. They have shown resilience in the way that they keep moving forward despite the obstacles thrown their way. They have demonstrated such a deep sense of caring and support of each other throughout this final term of their journey through RSC

We could not be prouder of Year 12, 2020 and the character they have shown and we certainly look forward to recognizing and celebrating your achievements in the months ahead. Best wishes to the Class of 2020.
