Year 10 News
Term 4 2020
We welcomed back our Year 10 cohort to celebrate the end of remote with a special BBQ put on by the Year 10 staff and the Principal Team. It was a wonderful way to reconnect teachers with students and to ease them back into school life with some sense of normality.
Term 4 was a time of catch-up for some Year 10’s, not only in school work but to ensure they received their Year 10 Graduation Certificate. They caught up with friends and got back into the routine of school. Many students did a fabulous job during remote learning and many excelled despite the odds. Students took this time to reflect on their learning and their future pathway.
For the first time we were able to offer a Year 10 Transition Day where literacy and numeracy tests were carried out to give us the best opportunity to identify which students needed ongoing support in their learning following remote learning but most importantly the day consisted of a one-on-one interview with one of their Year 10 teachers. Feedback from these interview was tremendously positive. Teachers thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to reflect with each student on their remote learning experiences, where students felt they will need some further support in 2021 and what their pathway would be moving forward. The careers staff were also on-hand to offer support and guidance for students considering a VET or apprenticeship pathway and the steps needed to be taken for these options.
Transition Day was the final day for Year 10 and was a fabulous way to finish the year in a very positive way. The information gathered on this day will be invaluable in our planning for students entering Year 11, be it a VCAL or VCE pathway. The Year 10 group of students were so amazingly positive throughout the year and very supportive of each other which was displayed on this final day.
