Out and About

Animal Studies

Students in our Support Unit have been undertaking the Animal Studies course at TAFE. This involves weekly classes at the Armidale TAFE campus.

The students are thoroughly enjoying all that they are learning about a wide variety of animals.

Swimming Volunteers

A very big thank you to our volunteer timekeepers and helpers who assisted with the North West Primary and Secondary Swimming Carnivals. Your help was greatly appreciated.

Trial Bay

Our Year 7 students have been enjoying this past week on excursion at Trial Bay.  The students have been having a ball and been very busy with their friends and staff.

The highlights have included: touring the gaol, bushwalks, surfing, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddling, playing a variety of games, and much much more.

We look forward to hearing all their news next week and are confident that they have had an awesome week!

Peer Support

A very successful initiative is the peer support that our year 10s provide to the year 7s. This connection started last year and has supported the current year 7 excursion. The peer support leaders continue to buddy up with their younger peers and friendships form that continue for years.

Hillgrove Excursion

Our Year 8 Teal and Navy classes adventured to Hillgrove on a cross-subject excursion incorporating History, Geography, Science and English.

So much to see, do and learn!

Relay for Life

An Armidale Secondary College team, made up of students and staff, joined the Relay for Life mission in raising funds towards Cancer Council.  Furthermore, this was an opportunity to raise cancer awareness and carry memories and thoughts of those lost and affected by cancer.

Well done all!

National Regenerative Agriculture

Year 9 & 11 Agriculture students recently attended the inaugural National Regenerative Agriculture Day for schools held at Thalgarrah EEC. Students rotated through workshops including topics such as soil testing, groundcover monitoring, composting, cheese tasting, food testing, native seed ball making, biodiversity and worm farming. We then spent time in the Waldorf school gardens discussing the possible establishment of gardens in our schools and growing food.

A big congratulations to Macy Harman, Cameron Anderson and Joel Forrest for conducting the seed ball workshops. You showed great leadership and ability conducting your workshops and your efforts are greatly appreciated.
