Mural
Well done and thank you to those students who, together with Ms Smee, painted a very bright and cheery mural to welcome all to our school.
Collaborative Drawing
Year 11 Visual Arts students experimented with collaborative drawing. So pleased that they recorded it via time lapse so that we can enjoy the progress as well as the outcome!
Day Old Chicks🐥 🐥 🐥
Year 7 Animal Husbandry students have started caring for 20x day old chicks and many mother hens have emerged within the class!
Students will be studying animal behaviour, growth rates and general care for their chickens. All chickens are for sale at the end of the semester for $15 each.
Visual Arts
Year 7 visuals art students have been busy developing their observational drawing skills over the past two weeks both in and outside of the classroom.
Classes have been exploring the idea and practices of still life and sketching ‘En plein air’ with some amazing results!
Some students were even lucky enough to get to draw a few of the year 12 cupids on Valentine’s Day.
EALD has a New Classroom
Our EALD (English & Language Dialect) class has a new classroom! There was singing and dancing as our students set up their spaces and got their learning for the day underway.
Colgate Community Garden Challenge
We have signed up for the Terracycle "Colgate Community Garden Challenge". This challenge involves the collection of oral care waste products (used toothbrushes, empty toothpaste tubes, packaging).
Please send in products to contribute to this collection.
We can also accrue points by obtaining votes at https://www.terracycle.com/en-…/contests/colgategardenvoting . Please consider casting your vote for Armidale Secondary College. We get extra points that way!
Wide Reading Wednesday
A very popular spot in the school is our library. There are diverse activities which may be undertaken in this space, but on Wednesdays reading is the only activity permitted during breaktimes.
Students have enjoyed the opportunity to stop and enjoy a book. There are many more initiatives in the planning stage for the library, such as a book club, book review club and a blind date with a book - this is where the books are wrapped up and a teaser on an outside label.
