Off To State Softball We Go!

Congratulations to some of our Year 4, 5 & 6 Softballs who have made it to the State SSV Final.  The girls Softball team competed at Regionals at Jells Park. They played 4 games in the boiling hot weather.  They tied the first game, with 7 all, then won the second 7 – 0, and the third 9 – 2. The Grand Final was a very hot and intense match but we came through with a smashing win of 8 – 2.

Thanks to Miss Baxter and Grace for their AMAZING coaching efforts and to our parent support crew cheering us on.

Year 5 & 6 Surf Day

What a big week it was in PE.  This year our reward for all the Year 5 & 6 Students who passed their Victorian Water Safety Certificate was an invitation to our first Mt View Primary Surf Day at Smiths Beach on Phillip Island.  Over two days we headed down to Phillip Island to Smith Beach with just over 125 students hitting the waves. Our students showed such resilience and determination and we have no doubt a lot of these students will be back on a surf board soon.  Thanks to our teachers that attended for their early mornings and late afternoons home from work, what huge days they were but well worth it to see all our students catching so many waves in on the beach!

Last year we had 41 Students in Year 6 who passed the Victorian Water Safety Assessment, with the changes in our school swimming program we were absolutely wrapped to see that our number of students that passed in Year 6 went to 93 with an additional 74 students in Year 5 who passed.  These Year 5 students will be offered more opportunities in Year 6 to extend their swimming and lifesaving skills through a Bronze Star or Long Distance Swimming Program.
