Parents, Friends & Community

Thanks 2019, you’ve been a great year for community spirit and activity!

To all the Ormond parents, teachers and supporters,

Parents & Friends would like to thank you for your support of all of the community building activities throughout 2019. Every single contribution has combined to make a positive whole.

Although it was cool and wet it was wonderful celebrating how inclusive our school is at the End of Year event. Elf Sneaky Bottom kept the whole crowd entertained and he made special mention of Ms McLeod’s participation in his thank you email. The evening was especially pleasing as we got to test run the stunning playground furniture which had been freshly installed. We think it looks great.

This year has seen an almost full compliment of class reps across the classes with so many parents making new friends and spending time with old in organising or hosting their class event. We’ve enjoyed a beautiful Mother’s Day stall, Father’s Day breakfast, kids spooky disco with that excellent photo booth and costuming and don’t forget the annual Trivia Night which didn’t disappoint thanks to the Year 5 volunteer team. We’ve cooked and sold over 1000 sausages, sorted and sold hundreds of second hand uniforms, wrapped and auctioned hundreds of Easter Eggs and giddied up over 400 children around the Wattle Grove Walkathon course! Of special note was the first dad to put up his hand to organise the Mother’s Day Movie Night together with his Year 6 daughter, thanks again Simon we are hoping you’ve set a new trend.

Although momentum in support of the library refurbishment has had to pause whilst classroom refurbishments take place we have it on good authority the Library committee are good to go with the new book purchasing as soon as the library can take them, A great addition to look forward to in 2020.

As each end concludes we say farewell to some community members.

This year P&F farewell two long standing, passionate community supporters. On behalf of the school community and the P & F committee I would like to thank Anouk Sherman and Debbie Hammon who have worked tirelessly over many years convening P&F, driving several Twilight Markets and doing what they can when they can in support of the Ormond Community. Thank you both for the hours you have dedicated, the enthusiasm you have shared and the friendship you have given.

And finally, thank you to Brodie, Jan, Lorrie and Kerrie and the rest of the OPS staff who have supported our endeavours. You do so much behind the scenes but it is highly valued as an integral part of any event the community gets to enjoy.

Happy and Safe Holidays!
