Communications Survey
The Communications Sub-committee of School Council is conducting a survey of parents and I encourage all parents to contribute their thoughts. I am sure that the broadest range of responses will enable the Communications Sub-committee to identify key areas for focus and development so that our school can continue to improve. All students will benefit by us working together to make Ormond a great school. Please be assured that all responses are strictly confidential with only two parent members of the Sub-committee having access to the survey results. The results are only visible on an anonymous form with no scores or comments attributable to any individual. At the close of the survey the results will be analysed by the two parent representatives and a report made to the Communications Sub-committee. The survey remains open until Friday, 16th of June.
- Please click on the link to start the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FGQLS5D.
- The survey should take no more than 5 minutes and will close on Friday16th June 2017.
- Once the survey results have been complied and analysed, the results will be shared with you and focus areas moving forward.
Nutritious Snacks and Lunches
This week we begin a series of articles which highlight healthy eating options for school snacks and lunches. I know that parents are keen for their children to eat a broad and healthy range of foods throughout the week. However, it can sometimes be difficult to come up with new and interesting ideas. This week we have included some links to healthy food websites – Healthy Eating Advisory Service. Nutrition Australia and Foost. Please take time to have a look at these and try some ideas. Healthy eating!

Reports on Compass
As Semester One reports for 2017 near completi on it is a timely reminder for all parents to ensure that they take the time to save & print all of their child's reports for their own records once they are made available on Compass. This is strongly recommended, particulary for Year 6 parentsor any families leaving Ormond Primary School at any time throughout the year, as once a student has exited or completed their schooling at Ormond Primary School access to Compass is no longer availble.
Semester One Reports will be made available to parents via Compass on Friday 23rd June.
Head Lice
A number of case of head lice has been reported across the school. Please check your child’s hair and treat them if required.
Many head lice infections cause no symptoms, and probably less than half cause itch. So you have to LOOK to find out if your child has head lice. Do not rely on itching and scratching.
However, finding live lice can be difficult since the climbers move away quickly from disturbances in the hair, and they are very difficult to see.
- An easy way to find the climbers is to use the conditioner and nit comb technique: Apply conditioner to dry hair aiming to cover each hair from root to tip with a layer of conditioner. Detangle the hair using an ordinary comb.
- Immediately comb the hair with a fine tooth comb. The best comb for this is the Lice Meister comb. However, plastic nit combs with conditioner are also very effective for detecting climbers.
- Wipe the conditioner off the fine tooth comb onto a paper tissue and look for lice and eggs.
- Repeat the combing for every part of the head at least 5 times.
- Also examine the comb for lice and eggs
In accordance with Health Regulations, a child must be kept home from school until treatment has commenced.
