TIRKANDI  LIBRARY  NEWS

Term 2 Week 10

As we enter further into the cold winter months, I have found that more students are quite enjoying spending their mornings before school in the cosy library, either snuggled on the couch reading a book or conversing with friends in front of the cartoons before a busy school day ahead. I intend for our Tirkandi library to be a warm and welcoming space where each child feels a sense of belonging to the school and its community. It would be great to see more students visiting the library in their free time and I hope as the cold weather progresses that those children seeking quiet solitude in the pages of their favourite book will find the library space a warm and inviting environment for them to do so.

Our new reading area has proved to be a unanimous favourite among the children, where each day groups are seen reading together during class borrowing time, working on school projects together, playing card/board games or simply enjoying the cosy comfort of the new space.

Students have demonstrated keen interest in our new Scholastic books which have been available for reserving over the past few weeks. Some of these titles are quite popular, with reservations fully booked out!

PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE 2019

It is excellent to see so many proud students handing in their finished sheets each day to the library as it demonstrates to me their keen enthusiasm to read and complete the challenge with enjoyment. Just a reminder to students and families that the Premier’s Reading Challenge ends on the Friday of Week 7 in Term 3 (6th September). Students still have plenty of time to finish their challenges in order to receive their reward.

Please feel welcome to visit Tirkandi and say hello! If you have any questions regarding any library matters, please do not hesitate to ask me. Just a reminder of the library's opening hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Friday – Before school

Wednesday, Thursday – After school
