Circle Time in

The Loft

Over the past two weeks, our students have had the opportunity to visit The Loft to participate in circle time activities with their class. The focus for these activities has been around our strengths - recognizing the wonderful qualities we have and building on those we wish to improve.

The juniors have spoken about things they are good at and strengths and talents they recognize in their peers. The seniors have focused on personal character strengths and identifying a strength they would like to develop. All students are included in these activities and have a chance to offer their thoughts. Each class also used the opportunity to engage in some directed mindfulness activities.

The Loft is a great space for the students to be together in a calm, topic-focused environment and it certainly brings out some fantastic contributions from our students across the school. It’s wonderful that we have this space to dedicate to important times of prayer, community and calm.

Here's what some of our senior students had to say about their time in the loft:

I liked the breathing sticks because it helped me calm down and I liked how the room was set up.I enjoyed it as it was very interactive and fun, I also liked the way the room had been put together.I liked the game where we hid the egg because it helps us work as a team and have fun. We all had to work as a team so the egg could be found.I liked the breathing sticks and how they calm you down when you're mad or upset.I liked when we did the thing where we hid the egg and also the breathing sticks because they were great techniques.

Next week The Loft will be set up for the senior students to participate in discussion about cyber safety following their webinars with Marty from Inform and Empower.
