Learning & Teaching in 3/4H

A Snapshot of Learning in 3/4H

On Friday the 13th of May, the Year 3/4’s ventured off to an excursion at the Royal Botanical Gardens. This program was to align with students learning within our Inquiry Unit, as they were able to deepen their understanding of local Aboriginal culture.

Students learnt about the unique customs undertaken by people of the Kulin Nations and explored the various sustainable land practices used across our country. Students also discovered the importance of plants and how Aboriginal people protect their land.

At the Botanical Gardens, I really enjoyed learning about all of the interesting and fascinating trees and plants. All of the activities were really fun and I’d love to go back! The things we learnt were so cool” - Zara

I liked it when we went inside a rainforest and we used snake grass to whistle. I also liked it when we got to pass around Aboriginal items” - Frankie

Going to the Botanical Gardens was amazing! We got to learn about Aboriginal people and got to look at tools, animals and plants. There were some beautiful sites along the way too!” - Izabella

It was a wonderful and insightful excursion that the students thoroughly enjoyed.
