Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

The children at COHR continue to amaze me. It is a real privilege to be working here. Every day I see examples of focused learning, positive interactions with one another across all levels and age groups, independence, inclusion and smiles on children's faces, which is what we all love to see.

The wintery weather has certainly hit us this week and I am sure many of you may be hearing reports of schools and workplaces faced with the challenges of increased illnesses. In addition to Covid we are also hearing of flu cases, gastro and a variety of other unfriendly viruses. While it may sometimes be inconvenient, we  would ask that parents continue to keep their child/children at home if they are unwell, even if they are testing negative to Covid.

Election Day Fundraiser

Thank you again to the families who have offered to assist at the BBQ and cake stall this coming Saturday. Your time committed to this event is greatly appreciated by all in the community. If you have not recorded your name on the roster and would still like to help we would welcome your interest in assisting on the day at a time that best suits.

School Advisory Committee

Our School Advisory Committee met last night for the first time 'in person'. It was lovely to be able to meet face-to-face as opposed to online.

Our main points of discussion last night were around the newly revised Child Safety Standards which come into effect on July 1 as well as discussions around new signage for the school on Ferntree Gully Road. We also shared ideas around promotions and advertising for the school.

Lunch Orders

A reminder to parents that Classroom Cuisine provide a lunch order service to our school four days a week. They offer healthy meal options for both recess and lunch. Orders are placed online and can be accessed via the school website under the community tab.

Cross Country

Congratulations to our Year 3 -6 students who participated in the Interschool Cross Country on Tuesday. Christ Our Holy Redeemer had 34 participants attend the Norton's Park event, competing against a number of schools within our school district. We commend all these participants on their efforts on the day. Congratulations to Isabella and Curtis, both in Year 6, who both finished in the top 12 in their age group and will now compete at a district level in June.

Walk to School Day

Tomorrow, Friday 20th May, is Walk Safely To School Day. Children are encouraged to walk to school either the full distance from home or part way.

School Disco

Please save the date for our children's school disco;

Friday 17th June

This is a fun night for our children which is held in the school hall. There are two disco sessions; one for the juniors and one for the sessions. Keep an eye out for more details in the coming weeks.

Trivia Night

Don't forget the Trivia Night coming up on Friday 3rd June. If you are yet to organize a table please refer to notice in this week's newsletter.

There is plenty of news still ahead in our newsletter and I encourage you to keep reading to hear about all that is going on in our amazing school.

Take care and keep safe and well everyone!
