Spectacular 5/6
Grade 5/6
Term 2 Week 6 2022 - Friday 3rd of June 2022
Message from the Teacher:
It is hard to believe that we are hallway through term 2! It has been a jam-packed 6 weeks, full of lots of different events and unexpected changes to the schedule and our routine. I really want to congratulate the students on how flexible and adaptable they have been. We have squeezed in story writing, arithmetic, a whole bunch of conservation and a sprinkling of public speaking and thankfully the students have really responded with enthusiasm and appropriate behaviour.
On Wednesday, the class went on our first excursion of the year to the Melbourne Zoo. The torrential rain, howling wind and swimming pool sized puddles could have made an excellent excuse for the students to have a negative attitude toward the whole day. However, I was very pleased that it was perhaps the most positive day we have had all year. We may have looked like we were heading to the snow, but the enthusiasm to complete Miss Anna’s fantastic scavenger hunt and have a great excursion really shone through. The smiles were fantastic, the behaviour was impeccable, and they really rose to the challenge set to them, to be role models for what a student from Le Page should be. I honestly could not have been prouder of the resilience and attitudes they all showed, well done 5/6!
Student Reflection on the Excursion
Hi everyone,
Yesterday we went to Melbourne Zoo. We all had so much fun, and we got to see loads of animals. Our favourite animals we saw were the gibbons, which is a monkey, the lions, parrots, giant tortoise and snakes.
We were there for most of the day, and we had to run a lot to avoid the rain. We jumped over puddles, dodged wet trees and watched the animals hide from the bad weather.
The day was wet but fun. Some of us took cameras and got a lot of good photos and it was so much fun. We did a lot of running and Mr D surprised us with a little of his rubbish parkour skills.
We really enjoyed the reptiles because we got to see the snakes being fed fish. We got to play in a little playground and got to see and take part in a lion talk and we learnt a lot about them.
Thank you for reading
