3/4 V

Maths

Here are some snapshots of our final lessons practicing and sharpening our subtraction skills. We now move onto 'Time'. To kick off this unit, students have been familiarising themselves with vocabulary associated with time. We will soon be learning how to tell the time on both analogue and digital clocks.

Hero Awards

Congratulations to the following students who filled in their Hero Awards charts in the last fortnight!

Education in Faith

Father Chinua

Last week Father Chinua came to visit both 3/4 classes.  He spoke to the students about many important events to give them a better understanding of the Sacrament of Eucharist.

Andrew Chinn

We were lucky enough to have Andrew Chinn visit our school and run a workshop with our students, plus a Whole School Concert.  All students absolutely loved participating and singing along to this music.  It was a joyous occasion enjoyed by students and staff!

Laudato Si Presentations

Last week was Laudato Si Week. It was the 7th anniversary of Pope Francis'

'Care for Our Common Home' Sustainability Encyclical.  This linked in very nicely with our Inquiry Unit of learning about our environment, endangered animals and what we can do to protect it.  The students created presentations linking the two topics and were very excited to share them with the class.

Inquiry

In our Inquiry sessions we have been focusing on many different ecosystems, including the Amazon Rainforest and the African Savannah. Students were able to look at the Amazon Rainforest through a virtual 360 degree view camera spotting wildlife such as sloths, tigers and snakes. We also used our geography skills to map out the 9 different countries the Amazon Rainforest covers! We have now just started to investigate some endangered animals that live in the African Savannah, and what leads an animal to becoming endangered. Students have been collecting interesting facts about these animals which will link into our writing focus which is informative texts.
