Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

What an amazing day we experienced last Thursday.  There was laughter, singing and dancing and such a strong feeling of spirit evident throughout our school. Our friend Andrew Chinn's presence and his gift of music created such a joyous atmosphere.

The children were completely entranced throughout Andrew's sessions and we all particularly enjoyed the wonderful concert to which every class contributed.  It was so lovely to see our school gather together, even for a short while, and celebrate in a fun, faith filled and creative manner - something we have not been able to do for such a long time. It really was a special moment.

Andrew kindly mentioned how much he enjoys visiting St Francis Xavier's due to the welcoming atmosphere and the happiness and enthusiasm of our children.  I hope they came home and shared their day with you.

Community Support Frankston Food Drive

Last week a letter was sent home from our Year 6 Faith in Action Leaders inviting families to contribute to our four week food drive.  Thank you to those of you who have already begun sending in non-perishable food items for distribution.  This week I was reading a news article about the increasing numbers of homeless individuals and families in Bayside and the Mornington Peninsula who have no option but to take up residence in tents on the foreshore. One of our staff was telling me about a family she came across, during her morning walk, who were living out of their car.

During my before school duty I have noticed many of the children arriving with groceries and it has been lovely to see how keen they are to bring in donations and have a chat about how they want to help others.

Warmest wishes and God's blessings ,

Marion O'Brien
