Assistant Principal's Report

CURRICULUM DAYS
Last week on Thursday and Friday, we had Santina DiMauro present to staff some professional learning around Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar. Santina's extensive knowledge and expertise in this area certainly challenged and strengthened our staff's understanding of these literacy approaches. Our staff are all feeling extremely enthusiastic about implementing some of these new approaches. We will be looking into providing a parent information session in the near future to provide some information about this learning and how you can best support your child with reading at home.
UNIFORM
Many students enjoy playing on the oval during break times; however, some of these areas get incredibly wet during the winter period. We strongly encourage families to put a spare uniform into your child's schoolbag to change into if need be. In the event they fall into a puddle, this ensures they have dry clothes to change into and can be comfortable when returning to class for learning.
ART SHOW
The students have worked extremely hard with Mrs Searles in the Art Room and have produced phenomenal artwork that they would love to proudly showcase to our OPPS community. We have arranged for an Art Show to take place on the evening of Wednesday the 15th of June. The show will run from 4pm to 7pm and display a few artwork samples for each student. More details will come in the coming weeks.
NAPLAN
We want to congratulate all of our Year 3 and Year 5 students for completing their first ever NAPLAN assessments. We know every student gave these assessments their best go, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts. We will be continuing to run some catchup assessments next week for those Year 3 and 5 students who were unable to attend any of their tests.
