MASKS ON BUSES

The current variant of COVID-19 is proving to be highly infectious with significant impacts on our entire school community, staff and students alike.

The current health advice mandates that all bus users (aged 8 and above) are required to wear masks. This remains a mandatory requirement for both private and public buses in Victoria. This includes when travelling on buses for camps and excursions.

For the health and safety of all concerned and in an effort to avoid any further cancellations of our services we request that all families please partner with us to ensure that all children between Years 3 (8 years and older) up to Year 12 consistently wear a mask while they are on the school buses.

YEAR 7 ENROLMENTS 2024

If you have a child who is expected to start Year 7 in 2024 and have not yet put in an application, please contact the Registrar, Jodie Davis, as soon as possible. Applications close at the end of May.

Students who are currently enrolled in Year 5 at BHCS do not need to reapply for Year 7.

NEW FINANCE & OPERATIONS MANAGER

The school is pleased to congratulate Daniel Turcato on his new position. Congratulations Daniel!

1) What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year?

Finance & Operations Manager

I am excited to get to the know the team and the community and being part of what God is doing at BHCS.

2) What did you do previously?

I have worked at a Chartered Accounting firm for the past 13 years!  I started as a cadet when I was still studying at University and finished as a Manager in their Business Advisory division.

3) What do you like to do for fun?

I love sport! Any sport really but AFL football and basketball are at the top of the list!  I also love spending time with my wife and young family of 4 kids between the ages of 2 and 8.  If I can play sport with them, well, that is the best of both worlds!

A STORY IN MINIATURE - VATE WRITING COMPETITION

Students in Years 7 to 12 and their teachers are invited to submit a story between 300 and 500 words in length inspired by the writing competition theme (A Story in Miniature).

We encourage students and teachers to find inspiration from the miniature stories that make up their daily life - the small interactions and delightful tidbits that make up their day - and transform them, with brevity, into a piece of polished prose.

There are four categories available in the competition. Schools may submit up to five entries in each of the categories.

Years 7 and 8 students | Years 9 and 10 students | Years 11 and 12 students | Teachers

Each entry must be emailed to cjerram@bhcs.vic.edu.au by 4pm on Tuesday 31st May 2022. All entries must be the original work of the person entering the piece.

If you have any questions or would like any further details please email Clare Jerram cjerram@bhcs.vic.edu.au

"It's possible, in a poem or a short story, to write about commonplace things and objects using commonplace but precise language, and to endow those things - a chair, a window curtain, a fork, a stone, a woman's earring - with immense, even startling power." - Raymond Carver
