Library Corner
On Friday we farewelled our wonderful colleague and Library Technician, Ms Megan Gatt. She will be greatly missed by both staff and students. Megan has been working in schools since 2008 and Glen Eira College since 2016. During her time at GEC, Megan has seen the school and library grow and develop including the school and library renovation. On behalf of the staff, I would like to thank Megan for her work, dedication and commitment to enhance the library experience for both staff and students. Her love of books, reading and libraries is shown through her work and has made a significant impact on all students and staff at GEC. We wish her all the very best for her retirement.
It has been a pleasure working with Ms Gatt and assisting her as library monitors. She is a very kind and approachable person and has made high school years better for many students, simply by greeting us with a smile every time we enter the library. We have been able to organise several events together such as Library’s Lover’s Day, Book Club excursions, Marvel day and other school events where we matched the theme according to the event, and they have all been very fun to participate in. We appreciate her willingness to help us on a daily basis. It is sad that Ms Gatt is leaving, however we congratulate her on her retirement and wish her best of luck for the future.

Premiers’ Reading Challenge
It’s great to see our students embrace the Challenge which is on now until 2nd September. We have been enjoying all your fantastic book review submissions. All Year 7 - 9 students have received their login details and Year 10 students can contact the library if they’d like to participate. All students who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers and go into a draw to win to prizes. To read the Premier’s letter to parents, view the booklist and for more information, visit www.education.vic.gov.au/prc. Students can contact library staff if they have any questions or issues.
